Bali Beaches
The beaches in Bali-- Kuta, Legian, Sanur, Nusa Dua, Lovina and Candidasa attract sun worshipers and surfers from around the world. From palm fringed white sand on the east coast to the wilder black sand beaches on the west coast, and the sleepy undisturbed coves in-between, the beaches welcome the tourists to explore, relax and rejuvenate in the paradise that is Bali.
Sanur beach
This is one of Bali's most beautiful beaches. Located at about 10 minutes drive from Denpasar, Sanur beach is the perfect place for basking in the glory of the sun. After the sunrise, you can take a canoe and sail along the coast to explore the outlying islands. The Sanur beach is surrounded by coral and is a much sought out destination for snorkeling. Sanur is lined with exotic vacation villas that give you the perfect opportunity to explore the Bali countryside at your own pace and feast on the sights and sounds of the Indonesian countryside. The Sanur beach also provides facilities for parasailing, surfing, snorkeling, touring on glass-bottom boats, canoeing, jet-skiing, windsurfing, sailing and swimming.
Kuta beach
Kuta beach is one of the most popular beaches in Bali and is a favorite party zone for the tourists. While surfing is an important activity here, it is the shopping, nightlife and partying that attracts the visitors. Hang out, sunbathe, eat, drink or play a game of volleyball. Meet the locals during the day and watch the stunning sunset in the evening.
Legian beach:
Visit the Legian beach if you prefer a laid back beach style. There is less of the tourist hustle and the beach offers good facilities. You can rent surfboards, play volleyball, or just relax and take in the scene. The beach is perfect for parasailing, surfing, snorkeling, touring on glass-bottom boats, canoeing, jet-skiing, windsurfing, and sailing. However swimming is not recommended as the undercurrents are very strong. The beach is very wide and when there is a tide you can walk long ways till the water reaches your knees. One of the most mesmerizing experiences here is watching the sunset.
Jimbaran Beach
This relatively secluded beach is perfect for experiencing the peace and tranquillty of nature. Strolling in the white sands or waiting for the end of the day to watch the awe-inspiring sunset are some of the favored activities for the tourists. The beach is also famous for its dining spots, which offer some of the best seafood in the area. A must do on this beach is sunset dining. Good food, soulful music, tranquil surroundings, the sound of the breaking of the surf offers you the perfect setting for a romantic evening in Bali.
Lovina beach
To the west of Singaraja, there are a group of coastal villages, Tukad, Mungga, Anturan, Kalibukbuk, Kaliasem and Temukus, which have collectively become a beautiful beach resort-Lovina. The sand around Lovina is black and volcanic and the reef around assures that the waters are calm and there is no surf. The sunsets here are spectacular and in the evening lights, fishing boats appear as bright dots against the horizon and present a pretty sight.
Scuba diving on the reef is a good place for beginners. Snorkeling in the clear water is good and you also have the option of taking an organized tour. Dolphin trips in Lovina are a special tourist attraction.
Nusa Dua beach
Nusa Dua is considered to be Bali's top end beach resort with many five star hotels lining the beachfront. Tourists also have the option of staying in the comfortable vacation rental villas that are within walking distance from the beach.
The white sand and shallow waters are ideal for children and there is a lifeguards on duty. The best surfing is on the reef to the north and south while most diving spots are water based sports are based in the nearby Tanjung Benoa. The 18 hole immaculately landscaped ocean view course, Bali Golf & Country Club is also located in Nusa Dua.
Candiddasa beach
Candidasa offers a good base for exploring the eastern part of Bali. Gili Tepekong, a series of coral heads at the top of a sheer drop off, is popular with divers and snorkelers. Candidasa is close to one of the greatest cultural treasures of Bali, the Besakih (Bali's Mother Temple). Tourists can also explore the rustic charm of the nearby Tenganan Village - a unique village belonging to the original surviving Bali Aga aboriginal communities.
Canggu beach
Located at about 8 km northwest of Kuta, Canggu is a popular surf spot with right and left hand breaks. It is one of the quieter beaches of Bali, much favored for sun bathing and experiencing the best of Bali's scenic surroundings---a mesmerizing beach front and the fragrant rice terrains complete the picture of serenity and tranquility.
Tanah Lot
Tanah Lot is framed by two very scenic beaches, Nyanyi beach and Kedungu beach. Both these beaches offer great diving sports and are very popular with the locals who stroll here in the evenings to watch the sunset. Yet Tanah Lot's claim to fame is the awe-inspiring Tanah Lot temple, possibly one of the most photographed temples in Bali. The tourist crowd, especially at sunset, is phenomenal. The temple, delicately lit by the dawn or silhouetted at sunset is a sight to behold.
